Clark Hosts Discussion on Controlling Gun Violence

Senator Katherine Clark (D-Melrose) will host a forum to discuss issues surrounding gun violence in the Commonwealth and around the country in the wake of the tragedy in Sandy Hook, Connecticut. The forum, cosponsored with Mayor Gary Christenson, will feature prominent figures in the debate surrounding gun violence, including Boston real estate developer and gun control advocate John Rosenthal, Professor David Hemenway of the Harvard School of Public Health and Director of the Harvard Injury Control Research Center, Chief Kevin Molis from the Malden Police Department, State Representative David Linsky, and Dawn Tringas from Moms Demand Action.… [more]

Senator Katherine Clark (D-5th Middlesex) joined Mayor Gary Christenson, City Council President Neal Anderson, Representative Chris Fallon, Malden Fire Commissioner Thomas Denehy, Sheriff Peter Koutoujian and the Malden Fire Department in congratulating Chief Colangeli and four other firefighters who received promotions on Wednesday in the City Council Chamber. The other firefighters receiving promotions are Assistant Chief Thomas Walsh, Deputy Chief Leonard Dunn, Captain Stephen Almeida and Lieutenant Richard Menard.

More women die of heart disease than all forms of cancer combined and, unfortunately, this killer isn’t as easy to see.

Senator Katherine Clark (D-5th Middlesex) has been named the Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on the Judiciary for the new legislative session.  Senate President Therese Murray (D-Plymouth) made the announcement on Thursday, January 31, 2013.  Senator Clark also was named Chair of the Senate Committee on Steering and Policy, Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Mental Health and Substance Abuse, and Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Post Audit and Oversight.  Senator Clark previously served as the Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on Revenue and led a comprehensive review of the Commonwealth’s tax expenditure system.
