April 3, 2014 BOSTON (AP) — The state’s newest member of Congress has received another committee assignment on Capitol Hill.
The House Democratic Caucus has approved the appointment of U.S. Rep Katherine Clark to the Committee on Science, Space and Technology.
The Massachusetts Democrat said she’s looking forward to serving on a committee that she said can play a key role the state’s economic future given that so many students, scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs call Massachusetts home.
Clark also serves on the Committee on Natural Resources.
Clark said she plans to use the committee assignments to help advocate for policies that she says will ‘‘secure environmental protections and address climate change.’’
The Committee on Science, Space, and Technology has jurisdiction over all energy research; all federally owned or operated non-military energy laboratories; and astronautical research and development.
