Senator Katherine Clark Votes to Freeze Unemployment Insurance Rate

(BOSTON) – Continuing a commitment to provide economic relief for small businesses and grow and create jobs, Senator Clark announced Senate passage of legislation today that will freeze the Unemployment Insurance rate. Without the freeze, the rate would increase by over $228 per employee, with the average employer seeing a per-employee payment jump from $644 to $872.

Autism Insurance Coverage

Autism affects 1 in 110 children or 1.5 million Americans nationwide.  As of 2008, there were 8,700 children aged 3 to 21 affected by autism in Massachusetts.  Those numbers are on the rise, and it is estimated that by 2011 nearly 700 more children in Massachusetts will be diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Organ Donor Bill Signing

Governor Signs Clark-Sponsored Organ Donation Bill into Law

On July 29th, Governor Deval Patrick signed An Act Establishing an Organ and Tissue Donor Registration Fund into law.  Laura’s Law honors the life of Laura Linehan, a Melrose resident who lost her lifelong battle with liver disease after waiting for a lifesaving liver transplant.  Katherine was the lead sponsor of this bill in the House of Representatives and is pleased to see it signed into law:
